PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE

KPIG’S GREATEST
HITS vol 1.
KPIG RELEASES IT'S FIRST VOLUME
OF THE MUSIC THAT MADE US
FAMOUS TO THE PUBLIC MARCH 25, 2003
Freedom, Ca: KPIG announced
today the release of "KPIGS GREATEST
HITS, vol. 1" an eccentric collection
of live material collected over the last few years
at various KPIG sponsored musical events. The
CD will include 11 musical selections that for
one reason or another cannot be bought, borrowed,
or stolen and contains some of KPIG's most requested
and sought after music. KPIG radio has partnered
with quilted fish records to release this one
of a kind CD.
Tracks Included on this
CD:
1. Robert Earl Keen "The Road Goes On Forever"
Robert is the quintessential Americana singer
songwriter. And among the Texas contingent our
favorite. This is his signature song and a unique
live recording with another Texan, Joe Ely.
2. Dave Alvin & The Guilty Men "King
Of California" Dave took enough time off
last year from The Blaster reunion tour (Dave
and Phil Alvin original members of the Rock'n'Roll
band The Blasters who hit their peak in the '80's)
to put on this show for KPIG during the Santa
Cruz County Fair. Dave penned this California
classic.
3. The John Cowan Band "Mississippi Delta
Time" John Cowan is a veteran of the bluegrass
stalwarts The New Grass Revival, in the band for
16 years. On this live performance is a once only
Jam with Freebo on the tuba. Freebo brought his
tuba along and jammed with everybody at the 2002
Soiree Festival. Freebo played bass with Bonnie
Raitts band.
4. Roy Rogers & Norton Buffalo "My Lost
Home In Your Arms" This is an emotionally
charged version of Roy's song recorded September
13, 2002.
5. Todd Snider "Beer Run" It's easy
to see why this is a favorite with the KPIG folks.
It's all about us! Todd is a master of the satiric
wit and catchy lyric, add an infectious tune and
it's a hit.
6. West Texas Waltz "The Flatlanders"
One of the members of the legendary Flatlanders
Butch Hancock wrote this, which was an Americana
hit for another member Joe Ely. They did this
number on The Flatlanders reunion tour in 2002
and included the banned verse.
7. The Laura Love Band "MahBootay" This
is the kind of song that comes out of the band
spending too much time together on the tour bus.
We love the energy and the appropriate "Piggie"
references.
8. Paul Thorn "Whup Somebody's Ass"
Paul and Billy Maddox, manager and songwriting
guru, "whupped " this one up on the
way to the KPIG Sty Studios to play live one afternoon.
Preformed the number that day and it was an instant
KPIG hit, previously un- recorded. Since he has
begun to perform this one, rather hesitantly at
first, in concert his fans can't wait for it to
be released.
9. Keith Greeninger & Dayan Kai "Red
Wine Again" KPIG locals once dubbed the house
band preformed this screamin' version of the Greeninger
favorite at the 200th Please Stand By, Sunday
live music show hoasted by Sleepy John Sandidge.
10. Dar Williams "Wilder Than Her" First
of our two bonus cuts, this one was released by
Dar's record company as a promotional item only.
The demand for this Fred Eaglesmith song was so
over-whelming we had to look for a way to get
it re-released to the public. Fred and members
of his band join Dar on this version.
11. Larry Hosford "Home Run Willie"
Describe this one as a bitter sweet sports ballad.
Originally released as a single in the 70's this
one has been off the radar for decades.
This CD is a benefit for Jacobs
Heart and The Surf Rider Foundation, Santa Cruz
Chapter. Jacobs Heart is dedicated to improving
the quality of life for children with cancer and
easing the burden of their families. The Surf
rider Foundation is dedicated to protecting our
oceans, waves and beaches.
About KPIG 107.5
FM
KPIG is an endangered species, a real radio station
with real music and real DJ's. There are no canned
DJs playing the same 200 pre-selected songs at
KPIG. We are a throw back to the golden days of
Radio. Maybe you are too young to remember Free
Form Radio, but have a vague gut feeling that
there was once something out there in the ether
with real integrity. When you tune into the PIG
(107oink5, www.KPIG.com)
we'll treat your ears to an amazing variety of
music, comedy and one of a kind custom entertainment.
Our musical taste runs the gamut of Adult/Americana/Rock
music. KPIG programs a lot of music you're not
likely to hear anywhere else, music that doesn't
fit into that 200 pre-selected songs.
